It's amazing the nicknames that develop over time. I've been thinking about all the cute names that Jack and Avery have. For some reason, Avery's name is easier to associate with other things so she has the most. Here are the ones I can think of. I had to enlist help from Court and Stef to come up with some of them.

More of Mexico

I was really surprised by all the attention Avery and Jack received while we were in Mexico. It mostly came from the locals. I don't know if it was the blond hair and the blue eyes or just that the people of Mexico love all babies, but they sure couldn't get enough of these two. We walked the same route to and from town every day and the same vendors were always waiting to talk to them and kiss their heads or pinch their cheeks. Jack and Avery responded very positively to the sound of the spanish. They are usually apprehensive around strangers, but when the local women talked to them they would smile and flirt with them. I can't tell you how many times I heard the following phrases:

Gemelos! (Twins!)
Los Ojos Azules (blue eyes)
Que Bonito, Que Bonita, Que Hermosa (How beautiful!)
Ninos or Ninas? (boys or girls?)
Muy Guapo (Very handsome)

I had such a hard time picking just a few pictures from our trip. We took over 400 pictures, my goodness. Here are some of my favorites.

Jack loved the water but he wasn't so fond of sitting in the floatie. My dad used the best phrase to describe it, "Don't fence me in!!"
He had just splashed himself in the face with a bunch of water here.
One of our many outings into Puerto Vallarta. The babies spent lots of time in their backpacks. People we saw on the streets started to recognize us and eventually asked us which one was the one that fell asleep every time. Jack inevitably would get lulled to sleep in his backpack.
Her is Avery napping at the beach.
Court enjoying some sun and relaxation at the beach
Jack asleep in his sun tent
Avery was so full of smiles, she loved Puerto Vallarta
Jack had tried frozen mango before we left but hadn't tasted fresh mango. This is his reaction...I agree!
This is about 90 seconds before it was lights out for Jack
Hanging out at our favorite street taco stand. We went there several nights for dinner and would bring Jack and Avery's dinner with us so we could all eat together.
Another afternoon walk into PV
It was usually right before bedtime for the babies when we'd take the walks. Avery has her thumb inserted which means she's tired.
Nana got Avery an anklet from one of the beach vendors. Isn't it pretty?
I love naked babies, they are so cute!Naked Jack
My sweet little girl
I wonder what he's thinking here
Grandpa showing Jack the true drink of champions while in Mexico. Don't worry, he didn't drink it, although he would've if given the opportunity.
Jack fought sleep the whole time we were in Mexico. During the day, if we were out and about or on the beach, it was usually up to Grandpa to take Jack for a walk along the beach to put him to sleep. Nobody else could do it but Grandpa. He was very efficient at it, too. It usually only took a few minutes before Jack was completely asleep. Thank you Grandpa!!
The whole group having lunch at the Botanical Gardens. Court's niece, Crystal, flew down to join us for a few days. It was great to see her and visit with her.
Stef, Court and me
Auntie Donna and Uncle Herm
Avery sitting in the big chair
Jack's bracelet that Nana bought for him from one of the beach vendors
I love that happy face
This was one morning before anyone else was up. Nana was reading to the two babies
Avery developed a love for waving while in Mexico. She waved at us, at kitties, at doggies, at birds, at total strangers on the street and sometimes at nothing. I will try to post video of it in the next few days, it is the sweetest thing.
Nana and grandpa
And here we are at home this morning, back to the cold, ugh.
Hamming it up for the camera at lunch in the airport before we boarded our plane home.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

A few photos of the babies from Puerto Vallarta...

Avery trying to stay awake in her carseat on the plane

Jack sacked out on the plane

Hanging out in the pool at our condo

Avery loves her floatie toy

Checking out the sand at the beach. Jack's been teething while we've been here and chewing on anything he can get his hands on.

Jack thinking he's such a big boy sitting in one of the big chairs

Avery loves the beach!
Sitting in a highchair at breakfast on Monday
Jack liked these highchairs. They had no belts to hold him in so he like to stand up in his highchair.

January Birthday Celebration and a sick boy

We celebrated baby Maggie's 1st birthday and Hansen's 9th birthday on Saturday at Nana and Grandpa's house. It was a big group and great fun with lots of kids running around and playing. Here are a few pictures from the day.

Avery trying on the birthday hat for fun.
Hansen loved just about every present he got. I think it was a good birthday for him.
This is his reaction to the gift we got him, a Mario game for his Nintendo DS.
Another wonderful gift!!
A picture of the birthday kids before blowing out their candles. Maggie is prepared in just a diaper for her first taste of birthday cake.
Julian lighting the candles....
Maggie's first taste of birthday cake with her big brother Camden looking on and her mom helping her.
Maggie's first feel of birthday cake. I think she liked it.
This was just too cute of an expression not to share. This is before she started getting really into her cake.
Yeah, cake is great!!
Jack sitting on his grandpa's lap and clapping.
Avery had a great time watching Maggie open presents.
Poor little Jack got sick just after this party. He woke up at 5am today and puked everywhere. He's been throwing up all day every 30-60 minutes. Finally this afternoon he made it 2 hours between pukes. I think he's through the worst of it and I can only assume he had the flu. We checked with the pediatrician's office and they say that breastfed babies don't need Pedialyte. They say to nurse them every 30 to 60 minutes for 3 to 5 minutes at a time. That worked well for us and he continued to have wet diapers throughout the day, just not as much as usual. He has now been puke-free since 4pm thank goodness. I can only hope that Avery and the rest of us escape whatever bug he had. Poor guy. There's nothing worse than seeing your baby throwing up. He was so confused and distressed over the puking. He knew it was coming every time and he would let out this pitiful cry. It was also very strange to see Jack who never sits still only wanting to sit on my lap or sleep in my arms. I look forward to him waking up in the morning and being his normal, Energizer Bunny self!!
