Christmas 2011

I am a delinquent when it comes to this blog.  I really have no excuse other than that I haven't made the time, maybe a New Year's resolution is in order!!  Anyway, here is a highlight of the last month...
A family Christmas photo at the tree farm

Our tree, and some wet and soggy kids
Court got the most wet of all of us because she had to crouch down to cut the tree down.
Avery's last night in her cast.  It was removed on Dec 1st!
Girls' Day (and one boy) at Auntie Steffie's house
Evening in downtown Seattle,  Aves and one of her favorite people.
Checking out the amazing gingerbread houses
 Snowflake Lane in Bellevue
Waiting for the music, the drummers and the snow to fall!
Christmas Eve and Nana and Bapa's before the toast.  I can imagine a number of things she might have been thinking...
 Yeah for Christmas!!
Cute girls on the couch (Lillie, Abbi and Avery)
Cousins goofing off for the camera
 Family Photo
Jack in his new double-sided batman/spiderman cape made by Nana.

Avery Peg Leg

Nickname was coined by Courtney and it has kind of stuck.  She even refers to it as her "peg leg".

We've been trying to get video of Avery running around in her cast, and I finally managed it.  My camera is in the shop for the third time since July, grrr, so I've been relying on my phone for pictures lately.

Anyway, this little girl isn't letting some silly cast slow her down.  I just have to giggle watching her run around in it though!!

This video was taken a few nights ago.  They were riled up before bedtime so I told them they had 5 minutes to run their wiggles out, and they did!!

Halloween 2011

Each holiday gets more and more fun as the kids get older. This year they were thrilled with the idea of trick or treating and couldn't wait to go.  This year preschool fell on Halloween so we got to get dressed up in our costumes (I was working that day so I put my witch hat on to show my spirit).  This is before we got in the car to go to school.
Sassy little Jessie from Toy Story!
And Jessie and her buddy Buzz.  I did not suggest that they pick coordinating costumes at all.  I let them decide what they wanted to be and they just happened to pick characters from the same movie.
Here they are (bottom right of picture) during circle time at preschool.  After circle time they got to frost some cookies, have a snack, then we all headed into downtown Snoqualmie to do some trick or treating with the local vendors.  Each parent was assigned two children to take trick or treating.  Teacher Amy assigned me a little boy and Jack......hhhhmmmm.  And Avery got to go by herself with Teacher Amy.  Jack did great and didn't run off and Avery was happy to hold hands with Teacher Amy for the first time.  In fact, afterward, she told me that it was the first time she ever held Teacher Amy's hand....EVER!
When we got home and Mum got off work, it was back into costumes and trick or treating at the local outlet mall.  Court wanted to wear her motorcycle gear, but Avery said that wasn't a costume so Court just went as herself!

Waiting their turn to trick or treat at the Nike Outlet!
We found Ian and Miles at the outlets while we were trick or treating, too!!

By the time we got home it was dark, but the kids weren't ready to be done so we unloaded from the car, Court ran in and got flashlights and we trick or treated in our neighborhood, too.  Halloween is the best way to get to know your neighbors.  I met several families for the first time and we've lived here for 8 years.  It was great!!

Checking out their loot before heading upstairs for bed...

Avery has already decided her costumes for the next two years.  First she wants to be a kitty, then after that she wants to be Minnie Mouse and Jack wants to be a puppy.  We'll see if those choices stick until next year.

Playing in the leaves and a new motorcycle...

Gasp, three blog posts in two days.  I can't believe it.  I think some of it has to do with the fact that Jack and Avery haven't napped the last two days.  Tonight they were asleep before 6:30pm, I can't remember a time they've been to bed that early since they were infants.  Anyway, it leaves me time to blog in the evening!

We are making the most of our sunny days and getting outside as often as possible.  We met up with Cindi, Ian and Miles at Rattlesnake Lake to throw rocks in the lake and to play in the leaves.

There's never been a tree/stump that Jack hasn't tried to climb.
It took him a couple of tries but he got up there all on his own.  And everyone followed right behind him!

Four little blondies...

Best buddies!  Avery and Miles have a little bond ;)

Leaf Angel

Court came home from a business trip today and promptly went out and picked up the motorcycle she found on craigslist.  I'm not sure who was more excited, her or the kids.  She promised them a ride on it when she got it.
Avery getting suited up

She looks so tiny next to Court
Ready to go!
Jack was admiring the big bike
Jack, ready to go
Sis, looking so cute!
Jack, wishing he could do it all himself

The first video is after Avery took her second ride on the bike.

And Jack, well he leaves no question in your mind whether he likes the bike!  This is after his first ride.

First Field Trip and Pumpkin Carving

The first field trip was to Jubilee Farms in Carnation.  Wow, it's amazing how cold 36 degrees feels when you've just returned from 75 degree weather.  Brrrr.

First, everyone had a little snack.  This is a picture of some of Jack and Avery's classmates
And some of their other little friends, with Jack, Avery and Nana and Bapa in the background
They are easy to spot in most of these pictures because they have their bright red hoodies on.
After snack, it was a hay ride to the pumpkin patch to pick out yet another pumpkin!!

 Jack found his!!
This is about half of their class.  The other half of the class were all sick with a stomach bug.  Thankfully we came away bug-free!!  Yippee!  I can handle colds much better than puking.
Learning about all the produce grown on the farm
 Checking out the pigs
And the pigs checking out the kids!
Then back home to carve the pumpkins we picked out a few weeks ago.  Jack thought the gooey insides were pretty cool.  Avery touched them once....then used a spoon from that point on.
And she wore a kitty mask while carving!!
 Helping Bapa
 and helping Nana
Ta-da!!  Avery's is on the left and Jack's is on the right.  For some reason they scooped the guts out of each other's pumpkins then realized they were in the wrong places and carved their own.
